New Throttle Body for Motorcyles Developed by Scion-Sprays May 2008

In response to increasing interest in Scion-Sprays from motorcycle manufacturers around the world, Scion-Sprays has developed a new motorcycle throttle body specifically for this application.
The new throttle body has the same mountings and overall footprint as the constant velocity carburettor commonly used on motorcycles of 125 to 250cc. As with Scion-Sprays’ products for the utility engine market, the throttle body houses fuel injectors and an integrated electronics module capable of running the engine’s fuel injection and ignition control functions. The majority of the sensors required to carry out the task are also integrated into the unit, minimising the external wiring harness and making it straightforward for engineers to integrate the Scion-Sprays engine management onto a new or existing engine design.
The design of the throttle body was completed by Scion-Sprays engineer Richard Hoolahan, with input from the whole of the Scion-Sprays team. Richard Hoolahan, Research Engineer: “the first prototypes have been produced using an aluminium alloy body because the motorcycle engine customers are familiar with this material. It has also been designed to be produced as a glass reinforced plastic moulding which will have even lower cost and we expect this to be a big hit with engine manufacturers.”
