Minister for Regional Economic Development visits Scion-Sprays

As the longest serving tenant at Hethel Engineering Centre, HEC, we were pleased to welcome Miss Rosie Winterton MP, the British government minister for regional economic development to our state of the art facility, and to have the opportunity of demonstrating our innovative engine management system for small engines.

Miss Winterton was visiting HEC as part of a tour of key facilities within Norfolk’s “Silicon Valley” to launch the “Cluster Mark” national competition. As home to the University of East Anglia, Norwich Research Park, HEC, and Lotus, the region is a hub of engineering excellence.

Miss Winterton commented on the “impressive” partnership working and co-operation at Hethel which was the sort of thing the government was looking to promote as part of the Cluster Mark competition to help innovative UK regions get on the global map.

The £4.5m HEC, which is situated next door to Lotus Cars HQ, was opened in 2006 as an enterprise hub for start-up companies and training centre. Over the past three years, it has incubated 24 businesses, creating 91 highly skilled jobs, and has supported nearly 3,000 companies.
